Meet Catherine Fischer

I enjoy my conversations with people who are looking to bring more intentionality and thoughtfulness to their work in institutions or their everyday lives.”

For the past two decades, I have worked to strengthen relationships between people and organizations and their connection to Judaism.

In founding Sacred Practice, I aspire to bring the transformational power of Judaism into all aspects of Jewish communal work, from the seemingly most mundane task to the most extraordinary, finding the sacred and lifting it up so that Jewish organizations radiate purpose and thus thrive.

Over the past couple of years, I have expanded Sacred Practice to include Spiritual Direction. I work with individuals and small groups seeking a deeper connection to what is most meaningful in their lives and aligning their lives to support and grow that connection.

I began my Jewish professional career in 2001 as the Pennsylvania Regional Director of Outreach and Synagogue Community for the Union for Reform Judaism. In 2004, through Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, I became the Coordinator for the Center City Kehillah (community), working cross-denominationally to strengthen Jewish life in Philadelphia. I was the Director of Membership, Programming, and Philanthropy at Congregation Rodeph Shalom from 2008 to 2020.

I continue to learn from and be inspired by opportunities offered through the Institute for Jewish Spirituality, where I earned certification as a Spiritual Director in 2025.

I graduated from Bard College (with honors) and received my MEd from Lesley University and Shady Hill School. Before I became a Jewish professional, I spent two decades as an elementary, middle school, and college educator.

I live in Cherry Hill with my husband, Richard, and cherish time with adult children and grandchildren.
