Workshops and Presentations

Sacred Practice also offers workshops and presentations for Jewish institutions seeking to jumpstart the process of refining their vision, aligning everyone around that vision, and reimagining what true engagement looks like. Some prefer this arrangement to an ongoing consulting relationship.

Synagogues and other organizations often bring in Sacred Practice for a one-time workshop or a series of presentations over time. Examples include:

Overview of Sacred Practice

The philosophy of Sacred Practice and an overview of how it is implemented.

Creating a Vision Statement

How to create a clear, relevant, and inspiring vision that unifies the whole community toward a higher purpose.

Implementation Plan – Bringing the Sacred into Daily Practice

A deep dive into the meaning of the congregation’s / organization’s vision and how this new lens informs and inspires each person’s role and responsibilities. Workshops can be done with:

  • Individuals

  • Affinity groups (people working in similar areas of the congregation/ organization)

  • Professionals

  • Lay leaders

  • A mix of lay leaders and professionals

Empowering Cohorts

Workshops for groups of professionals (e.g., senior staff, building services, administrative staff, professionals with similar interests from multiple organizations) and lay leadership in all areas of synagogue life for exploring more deeply the particulars of implementing the vision into their work.

Sacred Purpose & Text

Vision statements are contemporary interpretations of sacred text. This workshop explores various texts that enhance the meaning of the articulated sacred purpose of your organization, thereby bringing greater depth to your understanding of your vision and, ultimately, your work.

Sh’ma: Sacred Listening

Listening is a critical skill in developing a meaningful Sacred Practice. Using the wisdom of Judaism, we consider how to build a mindfulness practice to enable anyone invested in the future of the synagogue/organization to listen within themselves, the other, and their understanding of the Divine to inform their approach to their work.

Embracing a Jewish Future

This workshop looks at current demographic trends to interpret their implications in 21st-century American Jewish life. How do we look at seemingly discouraging data to understand where there is opportunity?

Don’t See What Your Organization Needs?

When the wisdom of Judaism infuses all aspects of congregational life, the synagogue and the larger community increasingly experience Judaism’s profound power and relevance.
